Keys for the Office Assistant and Help windows

Display and use the “Office Assistant”
Note To do the following, the Microsoft Office Assistant must be open and visible. To open or display the Office Assistant, press Alt+H to open the Help menu, then press O. Once the Office Assistant is visible, press F1 to display the Assistant balloon.
F1
Show the Assistant balloon (if the Office Assistant is closed, F1 will open the Help window)

in the “helper” balloon
Alt+Number
Select a Help topic from the list displayed by the Assistant. Alt+1 for the first topic, Alt+2 for the second topic, and so on.
Alt+Down Arrow
Show other Help topics in the Helpers list
Alt+Up Arrow
Displays the previous Help topic in the Helpers list
Esc
Turn off “assistant” messages or prompts

in a wizard or dialog
Tab
Move to the Help button in the wizard
With the Help button selected, press the space bar
Displays the Assistant in a wizard or dialog. To hide the Assistant, press the spacebar again. Note that not all wizards or dialog boxes have “help” provided by “assistants”.
NOTE When using the Screen Viewer utility or other accessibility assistant, if you enter a question on the Answer Wizard tab of the Help window instead of in the Office Assistant Balloon or Ask a Question box, you will Get the best results that Help has to offer.
Display and use the Help window
To use the Help window, close the Microsoft Office Assistant. To close Assistant, press F1 to display Assistant. Press Alt+O to open the Options tab in the Office Assistant dialog box. Press Alt+U to clear the Use the Office Assistant check box, then press Enter. Press F1 to display the Help window.

If the “Assistant” is closed, the “Help” window is displayed. If Assistant is turned on, pressing F1 displays the Assistant balloon.

Toggle between Help topics and the Contents, Answer Wizard, and Index panes
Tab
Select the next hidden text or hyperlink, or “Show All” or “Hide All” at the top of the topic
Shift+Tab
Select the previous hidden text or hyperlink, or the Browser View button at the top of a Microsoft Office Web article.
Enter
Performs the action in the selected “Show All”, “Hide All”, Hide Text, or Hyperlink
Alt+O
Display the Options menu to access any Help toolbar command
Alt+O, then T
Hide or show the Contents, Answer Wizard, and Index tab panes
Alt+O, then B
Show the last viewed topic
Alt+O, then F
Displays the next topic in the sequence of topics previously displayed
Alt+O, then press H
Return to the specified homepage
Alt+O, then press S
Help window stops opening Help topics (useful if you want to stop downloading web pages)
Alt+O, then I
Opens the Microsoft Internet Explorer Internet Options dialog box, where you can change access feature settings
Alt+O, then R
Refresh the theme (useful if there is a link to a web page)
Alt+O, then P
Print all topics in the book, or just selected topics
Alt+F4
Close the “Help” window

Use the Contents, Index, and Answer Wizard panes
Press F6 to switch from the Help topic to the Contents, Answer Wizard, Index pane.

Switch to the “Answer Wizard” tab

Switch to the “Index” tab
Enter
Open the selected book or Help topic
down arrow
Select the next book or next Help topic

Select the previous book or previous Help topic
Shift+F10
