Resize toolbars and task panes
- Press Alt to select the menu bar.
- Press Ctrl+Tab repeatedly to select the desired toolbar or task pane.
- Do one of the following:
Resize the toolbar - In the toolbar, press Ctrl+Spacebar to display the Toolbar Options menu.
- Select the “Size” command and press Enter.
- Use the arrow keys to resize the toolbar.
Move Toolbar - In the toolbar, press Ctrl+Spacebar to display the Toolbar Options menu.
- Select the “Move” command and press Enter.
- Use the arrow keys to adjust the position of the toolbar. Press Ctrl+arrow keys to move one pixel at a time. To undock the toolbar, press the down arrow repeatedly. To vertically dock the toolbar to the left or right, when the toolbar is always on the left or right, press the left or right arrow, respectively.
Resize the task pane - In the task pane, press Ctrl+Spacebar to display a menu of other commands.
- Use the down arrow key to select the “Size” command and press Enter.
- Use the arrow keys to resize the task pane. Use Ctrl+arrow keys to adjust one pixel at a time.
Move the task pane - In the task pane, press Ctrl+Spacebar to display a menu of other commands.
- Use the down arrow to select the “Move” command and press Enter.
- Use the arrow keys to adjust the position of the task pane. Use Ctrl+arrow keys to move one pixel at a time.
- When you are done moving or resizing, press Esc.
Use dialog
Tab: Move to the next option or option group.
Shift+Tab: Move to the previous option or option group.
Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+Page Down: Switch to the next tab in the dialog.
Ctrl+Shift+Tab or Ctrl+Page Up: Switch to the previous tab in the dialog.
Arrow keys:
Move between options in an open drop-down list, or between options in an option group.
space bar:
Performs the action of the selected button, or selects or clears the selected check box.
The first letter of the options in the drop-down list:
If the list is closed, open it and move to that option in the list.
Alt + underlined letters in options:
Select an option, or select or clear a check box.
Alt+Down Arrow:
Open the selected drop-down list.
Enter:
Performs the action of the default command button in the dialog (the button highlighted in bold, usually the “OK” button).
Esc:
Cancel the command and close the dialog.
Using the edit box in the dialog
The edit box is blank and can be typed or pasted into, for example, a user’s name or a path to access a folder.
Home:
Move to the beginning of the content
End:
move to the end of the content
Left or right arrow:
Move one character left or right
Ctrl+Left Arrow:
move left one word
Ctrl+Right Arrow:
move right one word
Shift+Left Arrow:
Select or deselect one character to the left
Shift+Right Arrow:
select or deselect one character to the right
Ctrl+Shift+Left Arrow:
select or deselect a word to the left
Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow:
select or deselect a word to the right
Shift+Home:
Select content from insertion point to beginning
Shift+End:
Select from insertion point to end
